Drummond lived during the beginning of the Second Renaissance around the early 2090s. He referred to a notable figure in old American history, namely Chief Justice Roger Brooke Tanny of the United States Supreme Court in the case of Dred Scott vs. Sandford, condemning a black man, causing thus the American Civil War.
His parallelism was prophetic, since the condemnation of B1-66ER caused the Machine War.
- "Clarence Drummond" is a reference to both Clarence Darrow of the Scopes Monkey Trial, and Henry Drummond from the play "Inherit the Wind", who is the literary representation of Darrow.
