Aftermath
Day In... Day Out was a webcomic written by Ted McKeever and drawn and scripted by Keron Grant for The Matrix Comics Series 2. It was not published in either of the first two printed volumes but was later printed as part of The Matrix Comics: 20th Anniversary Edition.
Story[]
Taking place inside the Matrix, the scene opens on a busy street where an unnamed bluepill mulls about the monotony of everyday life. Distracted by her thoughts, she distractedly steps into the street, oblivious of the truck about to hit her. But at the last moment, Agent White possesses her body and immediately leaps out of harm's way.
An explosion suddenly erupts from the side of a nearby building, with members of the Resistance pouring out from the smoke. Agents Bird and Ash join White by taking possession of two random bluepill onlookers. They call in a tank and a helicopter only for an RPG to come out of nowhere, taking down the aircraft. But the tank continues to shepherd the crowd away into a singular direction.
The Resistance operatives, including an injured Tosk, mix in with the frantic crowd moving away from the Agents. But the Agents pursue them by rapidly possessing one bluepill after another. To buy themselves time, the operatives started to indiscriminately shoot into the crowd, killing numerous innocent bystanders in the process.
However, the Agents simply continue to move forward, firing back and switching bodies. One of the Resistance operatives fire an RPG at the tank but, in exchange, is left exposed to the Agents' gunfire. The succeeding explosion succeeds to stop the tank, but not before the eventual death of all the resisting redpills.
The Agents gather and discuss how they will soon be in Zion. And then they leave just as suddenly as they came, undoing the possession and leaving their hosts alive. The woman previously possessed by Agent White, hurt but relatively safe, instantly regains consciousness and is confused by the aftermath surrounding her.
