Hardin was the boss of Peter Schoppe. He thought that Schoppe had luddite leanings which "leave him in awe". He also considered that Schoppe was not living his beliefs, like an "objectivist working for the welfare department".

He worked on Interrogative Agents designed to travel the Internet, collecting data and conducting surveillance. The Board however agreed letting him working with Schoppe's EPOs, to which Peter objected.

Unknowingly, this project made the EPOs accessing the source of the machines in the Real World.
