This article is about the operator, for the character from Burning Hope, see Link (operative).

Yes!

― Link

Link was the operator on board the Nebuchadnezzar, assigned there after the previous operator, Tank, died. He is portrayed by Harold Perrineau.

History[]

Link was a freeborn who grew up in Zion. He married Zee, the sister of Tank and Dozer. He promised Dozer that if anything happened to Tank; he would take up his job.

Link had previously been the operator on board another ship for AK, who was killed by an Agent while trying to exit before the events leading to Tank and Dozer's death. When this happened, as promised, he joined the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar, becoming their new Operator.

During the crew's brief return to Zion, Link lets Kid carry his and Morpheus' bags before taking him away from Neo and Trinity when he gets off the lift. Arriving in his quarters, he was greeted by Cas, and her and Dozer's kids where he briefly plays with them to lift him before they leave him with a dissatisfied Zee, who believes he should be Operator on a different ship, but he manages to reassure her. They later danced together in the temple. When Neo received the Oracle's messages from Ballard, Link frantically packed and was given a fortune necklace by Zee. Reluctant at first, Link eventually caved in and wore it later on. The Sentinels discover their location before destroying the Nebuchadnezzar just as they manage to escape.

During their way back to Zion, upon discovering Bane had murdered Maggie and escaped into the Logos, Link was the only one who believes they should go back, but the others refuse, believing Bane will have gained access to the ship's EMP.

Link later acted as a gunner, protecting the Hammer from the Sentinel attack. Once they got close enough to Zion, Captain Roland ordered him to charge the ship's EMP and once they crash-landed into the Dock, Link fired it on Morpheus' orders. Link's EMP blast disabled the Sentinels in the Dock, saving the day temporarily, but also disabled all of the Dock's defense systems.

Link is reunited with his wife (who also fought in the battle) outside the ship, surprising her that he was wearing the necklace, which he proclaims would never take it off, and remains in the Temple during the final showdown with the Machines. When Kid proclaims the Machines gone, Link leads the cheering for Neo's victory.

By the time of Neo's return sixty years later, Link is dead as it's mentioned that everyone who had ever shipped with Neo is now dead.
